Chippy’s Cabin Co. began in the hardest moment of my life.
After losing my son everything fell apart. I left my home my belongings and almost every part of the life I knew. I ended up standing in front of a small unfinished cabin in the woods of Haddam Connecticut. It was cold uninsulated and rough but it was all I had left.

The land was different.  It was alive.  Tall trees. Granite everywhere. Wildlife moving through the property.
And a small chipmunk that showed up every day. He later became Chippy the symbol of the brand.

That cabin became my place to rebuild myself.
I gutted it.  I repaired it.
I lived in it while trying to put my life back together.
The first winter was brutal. I relied on a tiny steel woodstove and cheap store bought fire starters that barely worked.

Those long nights taught me something.
If I could create one dependable flame I could get through anything.
That thought stayed with me.

I decided to make a fire starter that actually worked.
One cube. One fire. Clean materials. Simple and dependable.

I poured a small batch using natural wax and real wood shavings.
The first cube burned hotter and longer than anything I had used before.
That was the moment Chippy’s Cabin Co. truly began.

As I rebuilt the cabin little did I know I was rebuilding my life.
The days became clear. Life settled into a rhythm that made sense. Things moved forward naturally and without force.
Then the day I made that first dependable flame showed me there was still more life ahead.
Chippy’s Cabin Co. grew
and with every cube I create I feel a calm settle in. The work gives me clarity and a sense of peace I cannot find anywhere else.
